Since 2015, we’ve been crafting elevated and unexpected scratch-made dishes served atop high-quality, hand-cut fries. Over the years, we’ve continued to push the boundaries with a no-limits culinary approach with house-made tots, premium burgers, sandwiches and wraps, creative bread pudding and milkshake flavors, and more.

What The Fries is a Charlotte-based, family-and-friends-owned and operated culinary concept that all started in a dorm room at Johnson & Wales University Charlotte. Led by professionally trained chefs Jamie Barnes and Gregory β€œGreg” Williams, the story of What The Fries is one of grit, strong work ethic and never settling.

We are now a brick-and-mortar restaurant! We are currently only taking orders and serving guests on-site. Online orders, call-ins, delivery orders and reservations are not available at this time. Due to high demand, we often have a line outside the restaurant. We accept our last order at 8:30 p.m. to ensure we can accommodate everyone in line by our 9 p.m. closing time. Please plan accordingly.
